Kerala Public Works Department under the Government of Kerala is mandated with the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges and buildings of the State. The Department has traditionally taken a lead role in establishing standards and benchmarks in public works. The department has various wings exclusively for different fields of construction like structural designs, architectural designs, roads construction and maintenance, building construction and maintenance, bridge construction and maintenance, electrical works and electronic works.

3 Fixation of rent for private building hired for Govt purpose

Rent Certificate is issued to officers of administrative department for occupying Govt Offices in Private building. Following details are to be submitted to the Assistant Engineer , buildings section of the locality for fixing rent of the building.

  1. Prescribed Performa duly filled up and signed jointly by the head of occupying office, owner of the building
  2. Land value certificate indicating the market value of land on the date of occupation/proposed date of occupation issued by Tahsildar
  3. Age certificate of the building issued by local authority
  4. Request from owner(consent document in original with dated countersignature)
  5. Plan of the building with location sketch
  6. Non availability certificate by Assistant Executive Engineer, Building Sub Division of the locality
  7. A list of officers and staff of the office with a note on special request of space if any
  8. Ownership Certificate
Under the Buildings circle, based on the sanctioning power, certificates are issued by Assistant Engineer, Assistant Executive Engineer, Executive Engineer, Superintending Engineer Superintending Engineer, PWD Buildings Circle
4 Valuation of structures undertaken for Govt purpose

Valuation certificate are issued for assessing the value of building by plinth area rate or estiamte rate and then asked to levy valuation fees. The following details are needed for valuation.

  1. Formal application
  2. Asset Number
  3. Total plinth area of the building (PA)
  4. Age of building
  5. Plan & Specification of building
