The buildings wing deals with the planning, project preparation, construction, maintenance and arrangement of works including water supply, electrification and electronic works of public buildings. The headquarters of buildings wing is at Thiruvananthapuram and is under the control of a Chief Engineer assisted by Deputy Chief Engineer and a Senior Finance Officer supported by technical and non-technical staff. The organisational structure of buildings wing is as below
Apart from the regular field offices like circle, division, sub-division and section offices, the following additional offices also works under the Buildings wing
Judicial Circle:- Judicial Circle is located at Ernakulam and headed by a Superintending Engineer, for the administration and general technical control of judicial building works within the state. However, there is no direct sub offices under the Judicial circle as the actual execution of judicial works are done by the field offices under the other circles
Electrical wing:- Under the Chief Engineer(Buildings), there is an electrical wing headed by the Chief Electrical Engineer for the electrical works in the State. PWD electrical wing is also responsible for the electrical works under the Irrigation Department
Electronics wing:- Under the Chief Engineer(Buildings), there is an electronics wing having the responsibility to carry out the maintenance and operations of the sound systems, installation and maintenance of public address systems for all government functions and functions connected with the visit of VIP’s and VVIP’s, installation and maintenance of all audiovisual equipments of government departments, installation and maintenance of intercom systems in government offices, works related to the installation, net working, repairs and maintenance of computers and auxiliary items in connection with computerization of all PWD offices.
